Welcome to the German Christmas Museum in Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

In our permanent exhibition, we present both unusual and rare Christmas decorations from the 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as timeless Christmas tree favorites that have lost none of their former popularity. Discover fascinating facts and insights about the Christmas season. Be inspired by historic Christmas ornaments, magnificent nutcrackers, traditional Erzgebirge Christmas pyramids and extraordinary ceiling chandeliers. Learn about the differences between St Nicholas, the Christ Child and Father Christmas, and immerse yourself in a world of festive sparkle and enchantment. Explore the history and variety of rare tragacanth, glass, cotton wool and pewter ornaments, delicate decorations made from leonic wire, as well as the much-loved incense smokers and Schwibbogen. Join us on a journey through the history and traditions of Christmas.
